February Newsletter

Hello...

Goodbye February.

This was a month of twists and turns in my personal life. How seemingly: for in no Derring-Do, I did, myself, turn one half a century. A month of adjustments. I have to say that of all 10 personal goals I set out to attend to, there were only 2 with which I have been consistent. None of the situations were as life threatening as they felt, and all of them have been for the better. Husband, too, has been on the receiving end of surprises as well.

One of my end results is a re-done studio. My new window view is to the west. Same room, new view; take that as far as you like, same body new view kind of stuff. That stepping-back epiphany last month went far! It seems once you redo one room in a house there’s a domino effect: my bedroom got an overhaul, as did several rooms at least got a good start. It helps that yon husband has perked up considerably, especially after his emergency appendectomy this month.

Jack of all trades, master of none, a sad phrase that speaks too clearly of me. I took time in redoing my studio, taking a good look at every project left unfinished over the course of, what, 10 years? It was purging! What it came down to was what do I do in here every single day: write and sketch. All my other trades have fallen by the wayside once I got bit by the writing bug. This means writing gets the best window, biggest desk, and rights to every drawer in said desk... not even my sewing scissors get to go in there.

Writerly News:

I still managed to get over 20k words in on book 2 of The Song of Glædlond series. I have approximately 20k to go to have a 85k novel written. But this worries me some. I am an underwriter, meaning that I go back and flesh out my scenes in the second draft. So either this is going to be a hefty book or I'm going to have to do some chopping. Sometime in the beginning of April, I will make a plea for beta readers, so keep that in mind if that sounds interesting.

A blurb has been drafted as well (see the slathering of words below) for book 2 and the title is somewhat closer in coming along.

The first drawing of the second coloring book is complete, but I decided to put that off until my book is being read, then I can concentrate on one thing at a time.

Bloom of Beorg ebook was free-on-Amazon for my birthday and was a great success. Apparently, it also acted as an advertisement for my coloring book as sales for that were excellent.

As it stands, the ebook has settled to a new low price of $2.99 and remains free on Kindle Unlimited. And if you were one of the recipients, please consider leaving an honest review on Amazon.

I will be giving away a free copy of Once Upon a Time, A Fairytale Coloring book in March. There will be a price to pay, you shall see, but for all intents and purposes, it will be Free! Stay tuned.

Again, a glad Farewell to February. Best of March to you and happy reading!

Blurb (beta stage) for book 2

The village has been burnt to the ground, a terrible noxious stench raises from the base of the castle, and the dragon in suspicion has wrapped itself around the lake castle Nyle to sleep off his feast.

It seems to have put the family at ease when the middle child, whom we call Mydlenlass, finds an ancient book on dragons. Properly instructed, they are in for a long wait until either the dragon flies away or dies.

Mydlenlass has read the fine print, the dragon can only be killed by a dragon slayer, and she knows where he lives. Will her daring escape to find the dragon slayer and return be in time to save her family?
