The Nest Lightens

It's raining, it's October, and this week we're graduating our third homeschooler.

I'm putting writing on the back burner this week and focusing on a backyard graduation pizza party. I cross my fingers against the sound of the rain on the tin roof as I write, but it's also Ohio and weather can quickly change. I have a glimmer of hope.

I was thinking a few days ago how little our grocery bill has been. A good help came from the garden, of course, but it is also because my children are spreading out. Still coming back often. Now I have many days where I'm by myself...at last. I raised my kids to be independent and have their own life. The fun is when they come home and want to tell me about it.

I haven't homeschooled only 3 children in a long time! It's a good thing there's less. My patience and excitement for it are also degrading. I keep telling myself to hang on and not lose my grip now, I'm almost done! Exciting, I am looking forward to the next phase of my life and the lightening of my load.

Now I need to catch a raining photo from my window as soon as the sun comes up.
