A Morning Writer

August 8, 2020,

Mother of Six and a Filler of Notebooks...and all are best done in the Morning.

I've tried all hours of the morning to write because I had a suspicion I was a morning writer. I tried the afternoon because I just couldn't get my self to get up early enough. I tried evenings and nights with the worse luck ever. I've even tried not even writing at all. But that resulted in me filling up notebooks and blank page diaries with garbage rants and whinings in long drawn outbursts. No one wants to read about my whining. I went for years and just did writing therapy any time of day mostly when I was mad. It worked, I kept it up it was called it My Notebook. I was always using it, always losing it.

I have had a notebook ever since I got married. Filled with grocery lists, decorating ideas, and garden plans, and they all ended up in a box to throw away. Then I got the idea to have a notebook, especially for gardening. That worked so well I started one for homeschooling our babies. I filled two multi-subject books with homeschooling ideas. I then got into health and filled many notebooks.

But the one I kept most dear was my writing notebook. Somewhere along the line, I gave myself permission to put down the stories I had put myself to sleep by for the last 40 years. And sometime last summer I pulled it out and began to read it out loud. It felt so good I thought I should type it out because my handwriting was so bad. One thing leads to another and soon I filled my head with lofty ideas that I would write a book.

This is when I discovered that I could write any time of day but in truth, I am a morning writer. The words I love so well cannot be found to capture the feeling of sitting before an open hearth and writing. No one is awake and the house is silent. I watch the sun come up through the leafless trees and the feeling is like music. In the summer there's no open hearth. Its a fan in my face and it's 6am, I finally beat the sun. But I'm really not here. By now I am so into this business called writing I just need a little light to see by and a place to dump my words and do it all before 7:30 am when quiet is all over.
